Hola, fellow Art Lovers, One of my New Years Resolutions was to re-start blogging on a regular basis. Well, here it is mid-April and this is my first missive. So, you see how that’s going. Allegedly, Tennessee Williams was having a similar dry spell when he ran in to Pablo Picasso at a party. (Apparently, he got invited to better parties than I do…) Anyway, he asked Picasso what to do when the words or images won’t come. Williams quoted Picasso as saying: ~ We are not artists; we do not concern ourselves with 'art.' We are workmen, day laborers--who happen to work with paints and clay and actors, and curtains part on occasion to display what we do. Tell the truth, he said. As you know it. Art may happen; it may not. We are not owed its presence. So, while I was painting (and not writing) art happened. I took it to the Lubbock Arts Festival and was delighted to receive Best of Show honors. OK, that’s all I have for now. I’ll try to get back on track and send out news on a more timely basis. Take care and may peace and art happen to you!
Until next time… drj
