Art news and reviews Howdy, boys and girls! I was going to wait until next week to start back with the newsletter, but I didn't. There are several things happening this week that I wanted you to know about... like First Saturday Art Market in the Heights, Ron Gordon's art class and a new session of Looking at Art. The Official Skinny for these is listed below. But look out for next week, it's gonna be an Artapalooza! (Sorry to go all Kanye on you...) So, enjoy this week's events, but rest up on Labor Day. We've got lots o' art happenings next week! From the Department of Miscellaneous Information ... Call for Artists.. HCC Northeast has announced their 2010 Open Exhibition to be juried by Victoria Lightman. Entry deadline is September 10th and the exhibition dates are October 21st - December 3. Go to for the Official Skinny. Ron Gordon's composition and acrylic techniques classes will be starting back up on Wednesday, September 8th at Texas Art Supply, 2001 Montrose Bl. Cost is $150 for a 4 week session. Get more info at Artist opportunity... Annette's Emporium in League City's Historic District will be sponsoring a 3rd Saturday Art Market, the first to be held on September 11th, 10:00am - 3:00pm. The submissions will be juried, but there is NO BOOTH FEE! If you're interested, send your submission info to . Call for donation... First Saturday Art Market and The Artful Corner are having a raffle to benefit Craft Emergency Relief Fund (CERF). This fund offer help to artists who have suffered career-threatening emergencies (natural disaster, fire, theft, illness and injury). Fourteen works will be selected and raffled off. If you would like to participate, send your contact info and an image of the work you would like to donate to . Looking at Art Fall Tours... Victoria Lightman is starting another session of gallery and studio tours starting Tuesday, September 7th.
